The State of You by Aisha Nasser Al Sowaidi

The State of You examines how we cling to the past while our cities hurtle towards the future. The installation was inspired by the sense of nostalgia that pervades life in a city such as Doha, which is in a process of constant, rapid reinvention.

We invite you to come and place your head beneath seven dome-like "worlds", each of which release a different scented smoke.

Mubarak Al-Thani & Ghada Al-Khater

Qatari artists Mubarak and Ghada take you through a journey of the most memorable and pivotal events that took place in the past year, as seen and experienced through their eyes.

Exhibition Dates: June 4th - September 4th 2018

These events have reshaped the country and society, paving the way for a new age of forbearance, and redefining the cultural identity of Qatar in the post blockade era. Although the events were experienced by the country as a whole, the artists use diverse mediums to convey their personal mechanism of expression. Each artist uses a unique "dealing method", that translates into their mode of illustration. Mubarak's approach is unapologetic and avant-garde in reframing literal expressionism in his artworks. Ghada's approach on the other hand is satirical and daring in using simple and minimal visual language to convey sensitive and complicated subject matter.

Leek Yung Kang

The invisible process of digital printing system makes me rethink about the intangible materialist in real time.

Exhibition Dates: April 17th - May 7th 2018

Because of appearances of glitches in virtual navigation, and graphical languages from digital drawing, I am able to discover temporal failures and errors that are reflecting the process of mechanical reproduction, and I am fascinated with the uncanny aesthetic. The co-existence 2D and 3D worlds disorients me profoundly. But I have become more curious about the randomness and repetition in this complex territory, which is illustrated by the digital world. This can be characteristic of the digital reproduction system, and I use it as a lens for looking into our perception.
