ACTIVITIES

Prepare to Set Sail

Port of Galveston: With easy access to one of the largest cruise ports, Houston is an ideal place to start your vacation before embarkation. From the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center to the largest Fine Arts Museum in the Southwest, your options to explore are many. And don’t forget to enjoy some darn good barbeque before heading out on the high seas.

The Port of Galveston, located 45 minutes from our hotel, is the fourth busiest home port in the United States with departures from Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Lines.

Port of Houston: Located only 10 minutes from our hotel, the Port of Houston is the largest port on the entire Gulf of Mexico coast. Centered along the 52-mile-long Houston Ship Channel, the Greater Port of Houston consists of nearly 200 public and private facilities.

You can experience the Port of Houston on the M/V Sam Houston, the port’s public tour vessel since its inaugural voyage on July 30, 1958. This free service offers a leisurely, 90-minute round-trip, educational tour along the Houston Ship Channel. Embarking from Port Houston’s Sam Houston Landing, visiting sightseers aboard the M/V Sam Houston can enjoy passing views of international cargo vessels and operations at the port’s Turning Basin Terminal. The 95-ft. vessel holds up to 100 passengers and features air-conditioned, lounge seating, as well as standing room outside on the boat’s deck.
