Must see attractions at Penn State

During your visit to Penn State, you won't want to miss a picture op with the Nittany Lion Shrine and the WE ARE Sculpture. The Class of 1940 presented the Nittany Lion as their class gift to Penn State in 1942 and it is said to be the most photographed site on campus.

The Class of 2013 presented the iconic phrase "We Are" sculpture, a mirror-polished, solid stainless steel sculpture standing 12 feet tall and weighing 8,000 pounds. Don't forget to take a stroll along Old Main lawn and visit the Pattee Paterno Library & Old Coaly, the original informal mascot whose relics can be found in the Hub-Robeson Center.

No visit to Penn State is complete without a visit to the Penn State Creamery for some legendary ice cream. Celebrating over 150 years, the Creamery offers many crowd favorites like Keeney Beany Chocolate, Russ "Digs" Roseberry, Cherry Quist, WPSU Coffee Break, Peachy Paterno and the newest flavor, the THON Gold Ribbon Ripple. Don't forget to pick up a creamery passport to get stamped for each adventurous flavor.

Penn State Dance Marathon

Each year, Penn State students, volunteers and Four Diamonds families join together in the largest student run philanthropic fundraiser in the world; a 46 hour dance marathon event to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. THON takes place at the Bryce Jordan Center which reaches its over 15,000 seat capacity as 700+ Penn State students spend 46 hours on their feet. Since THON began in 1973, over $146 million dollars have been raised for the Four Diamonds fund to ensure that no child ever gets denied cancer treatment because the family cannot afford it. Visit the THON gift shop located within the Hub-Robeson Center.
