Contact us with your questions and we will help ensure you can make the most of your visit to the USAFA.

What is the USAFA?

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), which is located less than ten miles from the hotel on the 10th Air Base Wing, serves as both a military organization and a university. The Academy is organized primarily as a base, and its four-year program aims to impart the skills and morals needed to graduates to have successful careers as Air Force officers. In turn, cadets graduate as second lieutenants in the Air Force with a bachelor of science. Approximately 25,000 people make up The 10th Air Base Wing's community, and visitors are welcome seven days a week between the hours of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Throughout the course of their four years at the Academy, cadets are required to participate in an intercollegiate or intramural sport. The Academy offers an extensive program comprised of 29 different sports for both men and women. The Air Force Fighting Falcons are part of the NCAA Division I level and generally compete in the Mountain West Conference. The Air Force Football and Basketball teams have a large following among alumni, service-members, and Colorado residents.

AFA home games at Falcon Stadium and Clune Arena are extremely popular and draw thousands of spectators. The Falcons routinely compete against rival military academies such as Army & Navy and other non-conference teams as well including Notre Dame, Michigan, and other renowned teams.
