The Gaylord Rockies Caboose, found in the Grand Lodge, was purchased from the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. This train car was delivered to the resort from its last known location outside of San Bernardino, California. Assigned to Kansas City during its heyday, it often traveled to Atchison, Topeka and Pueblo, in addition to some likely trips to various cities in Oklahoma and Texas. It was retired in 1987. The caboose provides a distinctive design feature in a historical and uniquely Colorado way.
