Museums

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum - View thousands of aviation and space artifacts at this companion facility of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, just a few moments away from our hotel. Displays include a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde and the Space Shuttle Discovery. Catch a bird's-eye view of air traffic at Washington Dulles International Airport from the soaring observation tower, or a fast-paced movie at the Airbus IMAX® Theater. Visitors can also view restoration projects in progress through a glass mezzanine at the museum's Restoration Hangar.

Sully Historic Site - Gain an understanding of 18th century life in Northern Virginia at Sully Historic Site. Construction of the main house at Sully was completed in 1799 by Richard Bland Lee, the area's first Representative to Congress and an uncle to General Robert E. Lee. Listed on the National Register for Historic Places and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the historic site also includes original outbuildings, representative slave quarters and gardens. Guided tours describe the early 19th century life of the Lee family, tenant farmers and enslaved African Americans; programs reflect the history of Fairfax County through the 20th century.
