The Show

The Island Breeze Luau at Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel has been awarded "Best of the West Hawaii" since 2000. Enchant your Big Island getaway with a torch-lit evening of tasty Hawaiian cuisine and drinks, along with a display of authentic Polynesian activities and stunning performances.

The Location

 The Island Breeze Luau is held on the oceanfront luau grounds at Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The both beautiful and historic site, our luau is located on the shores of scenic Kamakahonu Bay in Kailua-Kona, which was the last residence of King Kamehameha the Great. 

Guests will take delight in a backdrop of sparkling ocean views, passing boats, outrigger canoes, and the lights of Kona and Mount Hualalai. Adjacent to the pier at Kailua Bay, our hotel is also within walking distance to Historic Downtown Kailua Kona.


Luau Schedule & Hours

Held weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings. Weekday nights are subject to change. 

Check-in begins at 5:15pm for HanoHano guests (preferred seating) and at 5:30pm for Ohana guests (standard seating) in the Hawaiian Monarchy Room inside Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The luau festivities end at approximately 8:30pm.

5:30pm to 7:30pm - Open bar and preliminary activities, including Hawaiian games, Hula lessons, and Polynesian tatoos 
6:00pm - Imu ceremony 
6:10pm - Royal Court arrival 
6:20pm - Luau dinner buffet 
7:20pm - Island Breeze Polynesian revue 

Your Island Breeze Luau begins with a lei greeting and picture taking. Next, enjoy a drink from the open bar and participate in one of the many arts and crafts activities, including , learning the art of hula dancing, and getting a Polynesian tattoo. Participate in Makahiki games - ancient Hawaiian games.  They include Konane, Polaʻie and Moa Paheʻe. You can also take the time to meet and talk to some of the performers. 

The evening officially begins with the sound of the court herald blowing a conch to announce the arrival of the Royal Court. During this time, you'll enjoy an elaborate, big island luau buffet with traditional Hawaiian cuisine - including Kalua Pua'a (succulent pork cooked in an underground oven), poi (an ancient Hawaiian staple food made from taro) and haupia (coconut pudding) - that will give you a true taste of the islands. The open bar will be serving you complimentary drinks like Mai Tai cocktails, wine, beer, sodas, and non-alcoholic fruit punch and is open from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. 

The finale of the evening is the spectacular Island Breeze Polynesian Revue with Fijian and Maori dances of war, the graceful Hawaiian hula, and the courageous Samoan Fire knife dancer. This astonishing demonstration of bravery and skill is certainly a highlight of the evening.

Check-In & Parking

The Island Breeze Luau reservation desk is located in the lobby of Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Guests must have tickets to be admitted to the luau. 

Ample parking is available at our hotel. Parking validation is given at the luau desk and during the luau. Parking is $5.00 with validation.
