Museums and Attractions

  • Science & Industry Museum - Located on the site of the oldest passenger railway station in the world, the Museum of Science and Industry is a museum for everyone. Kids, big and small, will be fascinated by hands-on exhibitions, and amazed by the huge collection of vintage vehicles and historic working machinery, including steam-powered machines in action. Meet historical characters, watch demonstrations of original machinery, take a train ride behind a replica steam locomotive, take part in hands-on workshops and much more. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed 24, 25, 26 December and 1 January. Admission is free.
  • Imperial War Museum - Explore a timeline of conflicts from the First World War to the current day. Get up close to the famous objects you've read about in history books and hear how war has shaped lives through extraordinary stories of ordinary people. Housed in a striking, aluminium clad building - IWM North is the first museum in the UK to be designed by internationally acclaimed architect Daniel Libeskind. Includes a powerful 360° cinematic experience and uncovers themes of modern conflict through art, photography and interactive displays in permanent and temporary exhibitions.
  • Lowry Theatre - A fun destination for all ages, this magnificent building alongside Salford Quays features three theatres and galleries showcasing artists of local, national and international renown. Theatres include the Lyric (the largest stage in England outside London) and the more intimate Quays. With a huge variety of performances, these venues offer a wealth of entertainment, including West End musicals, drama, live bands, famous comedians, world class dance and opera.
  • The Lowry Galleries - A showcase changing exhibitions by one of Britain's best loved artists, L.S. Lowry, as well as paintings, sculpture and photography from around the world. There's always something new and refreshing to see and gallery admission is free.
  • Pier Eight - The Lowry's new restaurant and bar. With its stunning waterside setting overlooking Salford Quays and the Manchester Ship Canal, it's the perfect venue for a relaxed lunch, pre-show meal or dinner out.


  • Manchester Day - This annual event celebrates everything great about Manchester. A fun time for families, residents and visitors to get together and celebrate all the things Mancunian that make Manchester one of the world's most iconic cities. This amazing central city party includes a parade and entertainment in local city squares.
  • Chinese New Year - Held annually in Chinatown, Albert Square, Exchange Square, Market Street and across the city centre this celebration includes a mix of traditional and contemporary performances, art, film, food and family activities. Also included are internationally acclaimed exhibitions. Next scheduled for 16-18 February 2018.

Sports and Entertainment Venues

  • Old Trafford - Home of the Manchester United football club and the largest permanent stadium of any football team in the United Kingdom. Located half a mile from Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground and the adjacent tram stop, this popular attraction is within walking distance of our hotel. Manchester United and Stadium Tours available.
  • Emirates Old Trafford - Home of Lancashire County Cricket Club since 1864, this historical and award-winning venue plays host to conferences, meetings and more throughout the year. First opening in 1857 as home of the Manchester Cricket Club, Old Trafford is the second oldest Test venue in England. The grounds have recently undergone extensive modernization to safeguard international cricket at the stadium.
  • Manchester Arena - Since its opening in 1995, Manchester Arena has repeatedly hosted some of entertainment's biggest names. Headlining past calendars have been U2, The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Pavarotti and local comedian Peter Kay, who performed to record breaking crowds in 2010/2011. As Europe's largest indoor arena, this award-winning venue maintains a full schedule of live entertainment and sporting events.


  • Salvi's - A traditional Italian restaurant offering authentic dishes and ingredients sourced from Naples. 3.1 miles Cau - Buenos Aires cuisine is a melting pot of delicious comfort food inspired by Italy, Spain and Argentina. From mouth-watering steaks, burgers and sandwiches to a tempting selection of sides and tasty favourites, each dish is served up with its own distinctive Argentinean twist. 0.9 miles
  • Fazenda - Start at the salad bar for traditional Brazilian dishes, fresh vegetables, cured meats, and several other options to accompany your meal. When you are ready for meat, simply flip your card from red to green to signal the Passadores (Meat Chefs) to bring freshly-grilled meat to your table and carve it on your plate.   • Legoland Discovery Centre - Explore the world of Lego and Duplo with interactive rides, workshops and a 4D cinema experience. Open year round.
  • Sea Life Centre - This indoor aquarium features interactive zones housing the most exotic of marine life. Includes Rocky Hideout zones for a totally immersive environment that allows little ones to explore mini caves and get up close to some amazing sea creatures. Open year round.
  • Chill Factore - Plan an amazing family day on real snow at this indoor Snow Park where all ages can get some ski and snow board experience. Toddlers are welcomed to Mini Moose Land where they can slide over the snow on doughnuts! Open year round.
