Getting Here and Parking

Our Durham hotel is ideally located in the heart of the American Tobacco Historic District, steps from the best dining and entertainment downtown has to offer. Before you stay & play at Aloft Durham Dowtown, read through our tutorial on how to get here.

"Step-by-Step Directions"

Park in front of the hotel and come into the lobby for check-in, where we'll give you a QR code that grants you access to the parking garage. 

Be sure to follow these directions: 

  • Head south on Mangum Street (adjacent to the DPAC) 
  • Turn right onto Diamond View Way, your next right 
  • Turn right after the crosswalk (corner of the parking garage) 
  • Park on the traffic circle in front of the hotel and enter the hotel to check-in

Do not enter the parking garage until you have received your QR-coded parking pass

Special Event Parking

Our hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown, right next door to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). We share a parking garage, so make sure you give yourself extra time to find parking during events at these venues.

Parking During Baseball Season

April through September, the Durham Bulls are at bat directly next to our hotel. During home games, the parking and arrival experience may be impacted. Please allow additional time to stop by the Front Desk to pick up your code to access the garage. Please contact the hotel for further information or click here for scheduled games.

Safety and Security

To ensure the well-being of our guests, the following policies are in place:
Only guests and Talent have access to guest floors. Deliveries, including food, must be met at the Front Desk. Alternatively, a Talent member can bring items to your room based on availability.

The Parking Facility is separate from the hotel. Although it is adjacent to us, for your safety there is no direct pass-through connection. We suggest that you unload, take items to your room and then park vehicles in the deck.

Room keys are only provided to those whose name is on the reservation, verified with government-issued photo ID. If you would like to grant access to other guests, please call the hotel to arrange.

Hotel Policies

ADA Compliant 

The hotel is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). ADA-compliant guest rooms include two rooms with one king bed each, and five rooms with two queen beds each. Wheelchairs and TDD equipment can be provided at no charge. Please contact the hotel directly to request these facilities. 

Extra Bedding 

We don't have any extra rollaway beds, but many of our Aloft rooms offer two queen-size beds, so be sure to ask if that's what you need.

Age Requirement Policy 

Kids are always welcome-as long as there are adults around too! At least one occupant of each Aloft room must be 21 years or older. Be sure to bring ID in case we need to confirm.

Connecting Room Availability 

Traveling together with family or friends? Our Aloft rooms can be connected-usually a king room with a double queen. Make sure to ask when you reserve your room and we'll do our best to set you up, as availability permits. 

Pet Policy

Sorry, but Fido and Fluffy will have to stay behind, pets aren't allowed due to local policy.

Smoking Policy

We're a 100% smoke-free environment. So please follow our no-smoking rules—there's a $500 fine for anyone lighting up inside the hotel.

Arrivals & Departures

Check in: 3 PM | Check out: 12 PM

ID Requirements

For security purposes, valid photo identification is required at check-in. Acceptable forms include a driver's license, passport, and/or proof-of-age card. Photo identification must also match the name that is on the reservation. 

Early Departure 

If you have a sudden change of schedule and need to cut out early, stop by the front desk. We'll do our best to settle your bill-but we may have to charge you for your full reservation. 

Early Arrival 

Check in at 3 PM or later and your Aloft room will be ready and waiting. Eager to get in earlier? Just ask at the front desk and we'll do our best to find you a room that's ready. No guarantees-it depends on the previous guests and our housekeeping schedule-but if we can't squeeze you in early, we'll be happy to hang on to your luggage in the meantime. 

Late Checkout 

Feel free to sleep in-check-out time isn't until 12 noon. Looking to stick around a bit longer? Let the Front Desk know and we'll try to keep the room available for you. There's no guarantee, but if we need you to clear the room, we can always stash your suitcase somewhere else until you're ready to go.

Payment Procedures

Check Policy 

Sorry, it's nothing personal-but we don't accept personal checks for payment. 

Cash Acceptance Policy 

Guests are permitted to pay with cash upon departure only. A valid credit card is required to be on account to cover all charges for all guests. The card will be authorized at the time of check-in and any amount not utilized, will be released back to the guest. Authorized amounts may take up to 30 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel will not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges. 

Credit Card Policy 

Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay, plus an amount to cover incidentals. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged. Authorized amounts may take up to 30 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel will not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges. 

EMV/Chip & PIN Credit Card Policy 

Please be aware this hotel is EMV/Chip & PIN ready and your credit card's PIN may be necessary for you to check-in to the hotel. If you are not aware of the PIN for your chip credit card, or are unsure if your card requires a PIN, please contact the financial institution that issued your credit card for clarity and to secure your PIN.
