Green Meetings
The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort &Spa and The Sonoma Green Business Program announced the resort is officially Green Certified. This certification confirms that resort and all of its Sonoma meeting and event venues are in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and meet the program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.
Green Initiatives
The hotel instituted changes such as buying recycled paper, copying double-sided, cleaning with less toxic products, using efficient lighting systems, remodeling with green materials and low-VOC paint, recycling office paper and ink cartridges, and conserving water with high-efficiency toilets and faucet aerators. In addition, The Lodge relamped the entire hotel, including its Sonoma meeting venues, with low-energy efficient bulbs, installed variable speed drive motors in the kitchen hood equipment, modified nearly 10 acres of the ground irrigation system and put in new energy-efficient thermostats in all guest rooms.
The Lodge first embraced green initiatives in 2009 and has since integrated many new strategies that support and encourage responsible tourism and sustainability. With this certification, the city of Sonoma ranks fifth in California for solar power per capita, has a bronze level ""Bicycle-Friendly Community"" and is the first ""Cittaslow"" community dedicated to sustainable well-being for all. Nearly 50% of all hotel rooms in Sonoma are now green certified.
Sonoma Green Business Program
The Sonoma Green Business Program is a partnership of government agencies and utilities that assists, recognizes and promotes local organizations to operate in a more environmentally responsible way. The Sonoma Green Business Program helps businesses go beyond compliance to conserve energy, water and other resources and reduce pollution and waste. The program also seeks to create opportunities for industry members to share information on the implementation of programs that save money and conserve dwindling natural resources.
