About Brick Salt Bar+Kitchen

Our hotel's Brick Salt Bar+Kitchen was entirely re-conceptualized in 2012, as part of a multimillion dollar renovation at Charleston Marriott Town Center. Our restaurant honors brick and salt, two prominent industries in Charleston. Pay us a visit day or night for handcrafted American fare.

Brick + Salt

Charleston was transformed in the late 1700s, when developers excavated brine reservoirs along the Little Kanawha River, making salt one of West Virginia's prime commodities.

In 1870, Charleston resident Mordecai Levi was the first to use bricks to pave packed dirt roads, eliminating cumbersome muddy potholes when it rained. Levi later patented his brick paver system, and streets across the country would soon use bricks as pavement.
