About Chef Michel Eschmann

Swiss-born, our Executive Chef Michel Eschmann began his culinary career in 2003 and spent seven years in his native country before venturing into positions in Asia. He began in 2010 at the Hyatt Shanghai, China. From there his career has taken him to Hangzhou, Shanghai, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and now Korea. Along the way he participated in multiple culinary competitions, including the 2006 Expo Culinary World Cup, the 2007 Swiss Culinary Cup and others, proving his skills with impressive wins. Born in 1983, Michel is one of the youngest chefs to have proven to have the passion and leadership skills necessary to reach the rank of Executive Chef.

In addition, Chef Michel recently lead the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul hotel culinary team in hosting a successful gala dinner for the Seoul chapter of the international gourmet association Chaine Des Rotisseures, providing Gracea spectacular debut for this talented chef.

"I have always worked hard at being dynamic and passionate when it comes to cooking. A chef must stay creative and inspired. Seoul is a rising star on the world culinary stage and Dongdaemun is the most dynamic area of the city, making this the most inspiring place I could ever dream of working. Besides that, the culinary team of the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul is as knowledgeable and experienced as any in the world, and I am honored to lead this team of professionals. The only way to grow and develop with this expert team is to lead by example, and I plan on leading by personally delivering the utmost in meticulous service to the customer," he explained.
