Awards and Reviews

Recipient of Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2011 - 2013
Marchand's Bar & Grill has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for several years running, in recognition of its wine program. This prestigious honor is given each year only to those restaurants whose cellars are stocked with interesting, rare selections and staffed by passionate professionals eager to provide you a memorable food and wine experience.

Recipient of Florida Trend Golden Spoon Hall of Fame Award
Named "Best of the Bay" by the readers of Tampa Bay Magazine

"The "Grand Lady of the Bay" is home to Marchand's Bar & Grill, a swank eatery that keeps vigil over the downtown marina. Remodeling efforts emulate the Mediterranean decor present throughout the Renaissance Vinoy Resort while utilizing rich woods and marbles. Keeping up with changes in guest expectations and healthier lifestyles, the menu also reflects a brand-new era -- gone are the tired sauces and a heavier fare of yesteryear. In their place, the menu reflects the flavors of the Mediterranean with touches of other global influences, such as a macadamia-encrusted fish might be served with a papaya or mango salsa, while the lamb is redolent of the most virgin olive oil with touches of fresh rosemary. Careful preparation coupled with exquisite presentation renders each plate an experience. This is dining to be savored, not merely experienced." - CityGuide Tampa Bay

"A magnificently restored and reborn landmark with top-rank Marchand's Bar & Grill doing so many things to perfection, including special menus, wine tastings and banquets, that it had to be initiated into the Top 20." - Florida Trend Magazine

"For a romantic night in Italy without leaving the Bay area, this restaurant is the place to go."- Tampa Bay Metro Magazine

"This signature restaurant, named after their original 1925 executive chef, features Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on roasting, grilling, and sautéing using fresh herbs and olive oil." - Tampa Bay Magazine

"An elegant setting, Marchand's complements the dining experience with impressive service by attentive staff." - DuPont Registry Tampa Bay

"Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Sit out on the veranda first and have a Vinoy Punch. Great lamb chops. Any of the fish dishes will blow you away." - Restaurants.Com

"Incredible all-you-care-to-eat Sunday Brunch. Graze through the carved meats, fresh seafood, eye-popping selection of luxury fruits, and a dessert display by a deliciously talented pastry chef." - Weekly Planet

Restaurant History - Pompeian Dining Room

Situated on the slopes of Vesuvius, Pompeii is the famous site of the 79 A.D. volcano eruption, where the ancient Italian city was buried in all of its splendor.

Archeological research and excavation first began at the site in the 18th century and continues today. A flurry of new discoveries in the 1920s coincided with the 1925 opening of the Vinoy Park Hotel in St. Petersburg.

Architect Henry L. Taylor embraced the thrilling findings at Pompeii in his design of this grand building, which was overseen by Aymer Vinoy Laughner. The fanciful and mythological decorative motifs, accented by vibrant Pompeian colors of red, blue, black and yellow, were lavishly applied in the elegant restaurant dining room overlooking the bay.

The renovation of The Vinoy in the 1990s included a meticulous (albeit only partial) restoration of the original murals in The Vinoy's historic dining room, Marchand's Bar & Grill. In 2012 saw a further restoration of these extraordinary paintings, complementing the overall beauty of the room.

Paul's Landing

Staying true to our historic roots, The Vinoy® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club is thrilled to debut our own craft brew, Paul's Landing. We invite guests to taste a piece of St. Pete history in the refreshing and indigenous citrus wheat flavors of this unique beer.

The Vinoy proudly stands on what began as an orange grove. William Paul not only helped pioneer this location, but also planted the first orange seedlings in 1854. Much like Paul, The Vinoy worked to create something new, and the history of the resort seemed like the perfect inspiration to get started.
