Named after Kelly's Italian grandfather, Primo is the creation of James Beard Award-winner Chef Kelly and her partner, husband and pastry chef, Price Kushner, previously head chef and pastry chef at the celebrated Old Chatham Sheepherding Company in upstate New York. They left Old Chatham Sheepherding Company to found their first restaurant, the free-standing Primo in Rockland, Maine , and then later opened Primo at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes  in Orlando, Florida. While the menus at each of their restaurants vary, they share locally inspired, original seasonal creations.

Chef Kelly's culinary philosophy is to make dining fun, un-intimidating and a full sensory experience. To that end, the design draws diners into the Primo "family" with an open kitchen, and expansive brick oven, evoking a sense of warmth and celebration with friends and family.

Guests are invited to sip a glass of wine while strolling through the tiered organic garden, modeled after the elaborate gardens of Italy, and discovering some of the herbs and spices that will flavor their meals. A wall of windows in the main dining room brings the outside in and affords diners a view of the stunning Tucson Mountains.

To keep diners on their toes, the menu changes with the season and is complemented by an impressive, yet approachable, wine list with selections that delight… and even surprise. With its "Old World" charm, ideal setting among the foothills of the Tucson Mountains, and association with the prestigious JW Marriott brand, Primo is sure to follow the footsteps of its siblings and become a hit with guests and locals alike.

How Mother Nature intended it to be.

If you are what you eat - then make sure it's fresh, nourishing food, good for both you and the planet. Outside of our popular Italian restaurant, Primo, we cultivate a nurturing organic garden. Here, amid the mountain and desert landscape, we grow pesticide-free vegetables and fruits. The fresh mint, tomatoes and strawberries go straight from the garden to our customers' plates, so they can enjoy ingredients that are both seasonal and sustainable.

Seeking out sustainable produce.

A commitment to free-range meat products. Supporting line-caught seafood. It doesn't get any fresher here in the desert.

The Primo Garden

Fresh, quality ingredients are the foundation of the award-winning cuisine of Primo. Our chefs partner with local growers and farmers to search out unique, fresh and organic produce and meats. In that spirit, and with spring upon us, the Primo Garden is readied for a rich harvest of herbs and vegetables to be used in our kitchen.

The Primo Garden

The Primo Garden has been designed in traditional Italian style along the hillside, terraced to capture sunlight and moisture. On your next visit to Primo, stop by the garden or enjoy your meal on our intimate patio atop the garden with breathtaking views of the city lights.

Primo Piatti Wine Bar

The Primo Wine Bar offers a well-stocked bar featuring an intriguing array of Italian and domestic wines. Our bartenders also serve fine imported beers and handcraft every cocktail. The menu offers small tastes of Primo cuisine, eclectic array of salads, and true Italian pizzas. Those dining independently will enjoy the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Primo Wine Bar features a communal table, the perfect gathering place for friends and family.
